2023 breakout sessions.

Our breakout sessions are always such an important part of Ignite. This year, we have a wide variety of topics to choose from in each of our 3 timeslots. Take a look at our options below!

Overcome Sin through Living (Men) – In this breakout session for men, we want to take fresh look at the topic of sexual purity and re-phrase it like this: what if our pursuit of Living for the King took care of our sin problem? What if LIVING was our focus instead of trying not to die? What if abundant life meant an all-out surrender to our King Jesus? Wonderfully the answer to these can be “yes, yes and yes” come and learn how.

Why did God Create Women? – God has poured some of his characteristics into women to reflect himself into this world. Let’s raise the bar for the conversation and talk about how women uniquely bear God’s image and help us know God in a deeper way.

Can our church culture equip us for a more “Abundant Life”? – Why do we struggle to experience the “Abundant Live” and “Perfect Peace” Jesus promised. Why do we fall into sinful thoughts and habits so quickly? Does Jesus often feel elusive and the Bible hollering at us? Join us in discovering how to be more than conquerors daily and how consistent committed community equips us to be so.

Standing Strong in the Storms of Life – When life takes an unexpected turn, where is God? Why does He allow hard things to happen? Can we find peace and even joy in hard situations of life? A practical discussion of how to process life’s challenges and suffering.

Addiction and the Intuitive Playbook – By God’s design, our minds create a “playbook” based on our past experiences to help us make instinctive decisions and intuitive judgements. Understanding how this intuitive playbook develops and functions gives us insight into the human struggle with addictions and other sin habits as well as keys to overcoming and supporting those fighting addictions.

Pursuing Marriage Wisely – Join a panel discussion about how to wisely pursue marriage. Our panelists will talk about valuable principles for pursuing marriage and share from their wide range of perspectives on the topic.

From Splintering to Unity in My Congregation – Unity is central to Christ’s purposes. Yet church’s splinter, and fracture. Let’s understand together why factions occur and what can I do in my local congregation to live in Christ’s vision to “Keep the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace.”

Are You Ready to Give an Answer? Yes! – We are instructed to “be ready to give an answer,” but despite our earnest desires to do just that, many of us feel intimidated by the thought of not having the answers on questions of faith and culture. In this session, we will ease these fears by showing how you’re more ready than you think you are.
This will be a practical “how-to” session touching various apologetics topics and questions.

Imitating Christ to the LGBTQ Community – How we, the church, navigate relationships with the LGBTQ community speaks powerfully… for good or bad. Join us for a conversation examining three lenses that shape our thinking about LGBTQ issues and can help paint a picture for a Christlike response of love, grace, and truth.

Intentional Living For Men – God has designed us for a life of intentional worship and purpose. However, men are often tempted to travel the path of least resistance on the one side, or isolated independence on the other. A frank discussion about the pitfalls of aimlessness, laziness and self-reliance that is prevalent in our culture today. Practical examples of intentionality in the family, work and in the church body will be shared as we seek purpose in everyday life.

Love and Joy in an anxious world: Neurology and the Bible (women) – Practical instructions for applying current neuroscience and God’s Word in our thought life, emotions, and daily living.

How the AC church came to be, and why it matters – This is a history presentation reflecting on the theological and philosophical ideas that influenced the founding of the AC Church. What can we learn from our history and apply to our world today?

Stories Shape Our Hearts – There are many stories – good and bad. How do the Stories we take in shape our hearts? How do we be intentional about the stories we consume to grow our love for the Gospel?

About us

ignite ministries.

Ignite began in 2010 as an effort to unite the young people of the Apostolic Christian Church through a weekend retreat focused on learning to live out the Gospel.

Mission

The ultimate mission of Ignite is to Glorify God by encouraging the youth of the Apostolic Christian Church to offer themselves as a living Sacrifice to Christ | Cultivate their hearts to continuously bear fruit | Unite the body of Christ together | Contribute their gifts to that body.
